Two heads are better than one...

The saying goes that two heads are better than one and this is clearly the case when it comes to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, those adorable twins from Full House, Two of a kind and all those Mary Kate and Ashley films. However now days their more famous for the fashion, style and clothing line The Row. The Row is named after the famous Saville Row in London. The sister's launched their first collection in 2008 to critical acclaim and equally as much controversy especially during 2011 when they launched their first Alligator skin Backpack costing £25,000, which despite the exotic skin used was an instant best seller in New York.

Mary Kate and Ashley are famous for their collection of bags the collection features large totes, backpacks and small satchels, using classic designs in a mix of exotic and classic colours, skins and features. The twins are also often seen with bags from their own collections, making them the ultimate accessory adverts for their bags. Their handbags may have caused a lot of controversy but The Row collection including clothing has been a big seller in the last 12 months grossing around £25 million, clearly the girls have their fingers on the fashion pulse and have created a collection that sells.

The 2012 Council of the Fashion Designers of America Awards was attended by every designer you can think of From Michael Kors and Prabal Gurung to Donna Karen and Marc Jacobs. Twin tycoons Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen won the fashion industry's top trophy, Womenswear Designer of the Year, for their high end line, The Row, a luxury apparel brand named after London’s historic Savile Row. This means that the twins have successfully grown from child stars to authentic fashion designers. Recent past winners of this award include Proenza Schouler in 2011 and Jacobs in 2010. The sisters naturally wore the latest designs from The Row’s Resort 2013 collection. Mary Kate's hair was dyed dark brown, and she wore a long-sleeved black silk dress with a waist-sash and a high-low hem. She accessorized with Louis Vuitton black suede peep-toe heels and a black purse by The Row with a silver layered necklace by Sidney Garber. Ashley wore a plum-hued silk V-neck dress, also from their resort collection, with a willowing ruffle down the middle, silver cuff bracelets Manolo Blahnik heels and a bag by The Row.

Recently Mary Kate and Ashley have been criticised by animal rights group PETA for wearing fur and for their use of fur in their fashion line, especially on this bag inparticular which uses 16 different furs, the bag will cost £16,000 and despite the controversial materials used, there is already a waiting list which proves that the girls are turning controversy into cash!

The Row may not be to everyone's taste and the use of certain materials may be seen as offensive, however I think it's clear that The Olsen twins are creating Clothing and Handbags that they love using material that they love and looking at the sales figures, the critics acclaim and the award, these Twins are taking two great ideas and creating an internationally successful clothing line, which is definitely something to be admired.
